Penstemon Pinifolius ‘Mersea Yellow’

Unlike the ubiquitous border hybrid penstemons, Penstemon pinifolius ‘Mersea Yellow’ is an altogether different plant that is better suited to gravel gardens, rockeries and containers. The fine evergreen foliage has the appearance of pine needles, giving it the common name of pine-leaved penstemon. Slender, upward-facing tubular yellow flowers are produced throughout summer. The plant is smaller than border hybrid penstemons and has a spreading habit. It can be treated as an alpine, thriving in full sun in a very free-draining soil. Height: 30cm (12in).
