Sambucus Racemosa ‘Lemony Lace’

The elegance of this shrub belies its tough nature. Deeply cut, lacy foliage in a bright golden green lends this compact shrub a luminous and airy presence. However, Sambucus racemosa ‘Lemony Lace’ is a vigorous and adaptable plant that will accommodate heavy clay soils as well as lighter ones. In late spring and early summer, the bright foliage is smothered with frothy white flower umbels which are highly attractive to pollinators. Glossy orange-red berries follow, which are enjoyed by birds. Offering both textural interest and colour, Sambucus racemosa ‘Lemony Lace’ makes a fine focal specimen in light shade or a useful structural shrub for the back of a mixed border.
